Citrus witch hazel toner review

Humphrey's alcohol free, oil controlling toner with citrus and witch hazel. I've been using this for 2 weeks now and I really, really like it. I makes my skin so soft! I have combination skin and I've used some good toners that were great for my oily parts, not so great for my drier cheeks. This toner doesn't dry my skin out at all, and it doesn't even leave it feeling tight. Thanks to lots of natural ingredients like chamomile, aloe vera, lavender, green tea, etc this toner is so gentle. It primes my skin perfectly for makeup. It smells really fruity and citrusy. Next time I'm going to try Humphrey's witch hazel toner with cucumber extracts for sensitive skin and redness, but for now I give this a *Thumbs Up!* Give it a try, its so much better than the average drying, chemical toners.

Review:Hemp Hand Protector by Body Shop: Miracle

If you're going to trust me on anything in this blog, trust me on this...Body Shop's Hemp Hand Protector is the best hand cream in the world. Once you try it, you will never go back to anything else. I have very sensitive skin on my hands, it goes dry very easily. Anything can make my hands go dry and flaky: sea water, chlorine, detergent, soap, cold weather, you name it. 2 years ago I had a really bad reaction to something, and my hands went dry, then started to look scaly and then started cracking. They also itched real bad. Nothing helped, except for Body Shop's cream, nothing even came close.

If you have very dry skin on your hands, please please try this cream. All you have to do is go to Body Shop and try the tester on clean hands (if possible). The cream comes in 2 sizes: 3.38 oz and 1.25 oz. It is the perfect winter hand cream. Important note: if you have regular to dry skin on your hands this may be too greasy. the Hemp Hand Protector is meant for dry to exremely dry skin.

Tigi's Brunette Goddess Shampoo Review

The first thing I have to say about this shampoo is that it smells so good that I must fight the urge to eat it. It has the best smell out of all the shampoos I have ever tried in my 22 years, HANDS DOWN. It smells like caramel, toffee and brown sugar. Maybe a little bit like creme brulee. It makes my hair shiny and smooth but mostly super soft and manageable. The smell does stay in my hair but a very soft scent that's gone by the next day. That's because I don't use the same conditioner. To prolong the divine smell: shampoo twice and let it sit in your hair for a minute the second time. Also use the conditioner and let that sit for a couple of minutes. Note: it doesn't seem to deposit any color into my naturally dark brown hair. *THUMBS UP*

Paul Mitchell's Super Skinny Serum Review

It smells great but unfortunately didn't help my naturally frizzy hair. I tossed it out before I even used a quarter of it.

Nivea's Straight and Easy review

Nivea's Straight and Easy Straightening Balm is really good. Before I review it, here's what the bottle says: "Super straight formula. Makes hair straightening easier, faster and last longer. Humidity and heat protection. No iron needed, just blowdrying!" Well here's what I have to say...

I've been using it on my long, thick, frizzy and wavy hair for over 2 weeks. I spread it evenly on my damp, clean hair before blowdrying with a round brush. I then smooth a little bit over the top of my head, where there's a lot of frizz. I like the way it smells. It makes my hair shiny. It definitely has a straightening effect, not just a frizz fighting effect. My hair stays straighter longer. It fights most of my frizz. And I just love how I found a *good* straightening product with heat protection. Now about the part that says "no iron needed"...If you're going for the bone straight hair look, you WILL need to use an iron after you're done drying. But it definitely makes the hair sleek and smooth. *THUMBS UP* Note: FrizzEase is a much better frizz fighter in my opinion, but this is a "straightener".

Vaseline hand cream review

I'm reviewing Vaseline's "Healthy Hand & Nail" lotion. It says that it "hydrates hands and strengthens nails." I'm not sure about the strengthening nail part because I haven't used it long enough. The reason being...it sucks. Maybe you don't agree with me, but I have really dry skin on my hands and this didn't help at all. *THUMBS DOWN*

Herbal Clear's Natural Deodorant review

Before I begin, I'd like to point out that Herbal Clear has a variety of different deodorants and I have only tried one of them. That's the one shown in the picture above, it's called Herbal Clear Natural Deodorant, Clear Aloe Fresh.
I bought it because I thought a deodorant that works yet is free from harmful chemicals would be pretty neat. I might as well haven't worn any deodarant.(pretty gross) ...It sucks, don't do it! *THUMBS DOWN*
Here's some more info about the deodorant itself:
  • Herbal Clear naturally does not contain aluminum, added alcohol, dyes or artificial bactericides. Herbal Clear naturally utilizes the natural botanical Lichen (Usnea barbata), which inhibits odor-causing bacteria. This breakthrough formula stops odor before it starts.

The last part is a lie! Stops odor before it starts? That did not happen to me, and the first time i tried it I just tossed it out.

How to strengthen weak nails

Here's some advice:

  • When filing your nails, only file in one direction! This made a big difference for me, give it a try.
  • When cleaning around the house with harsh chemicals, hand washing clothes or washing the dishes, always wear rubber gloves! The harsh chemicals can make your nails very fragile.
  • Never, ever put your fingers in your mouth for 2 reasons. First, think of the nasty bacteria. Second, your saliva has chemicals that can break down and digest carbohydrates, imagine what it can do to your nails!
  • If you suspect that one of your nail polishes is weakening your nails, even if it's supposed to strengthen, stop using it right away! I once tried a "strengthening" nail polish that made my nails even weaker.
  • Use a good strengthener. I recommend diamond strength by Sally Hansen. This works differently for everyone and you might notice that your nails are strongest when bare.
  • Never use your nails to open a soda or anything similar. Use a coin instead or ask someone else to open it for you.
  • Here is my last piece of advice, and it may sound very strange to you. Check your iron levels. If you have iron deficiency it's possible you have very weak nails. I was anaemic and my nails would split and break and peel like crazy! My doctor put me on some really good medicine and my nails stopped breaking. They can finally grow without peeling!

Tresemme's heat defence spray review

Unlike the crappy L'anza spray, Tresemme's heat defense spray actually does reduce frizz. This is where I go from saying "makes the hair soft and shiny" to "it weighs your hair down". Don't be confused, when I first tried it after that Lanza crap I was pretty impressed. Tresemme fought off a lot of the frizz and didn't weigh my hair down so bad. However, after using it for a couple of weeks I realized that the only reason my hair wasn't shiny...was because of this spray. It left a film on my hair shaft so my hair could no longer reflect light. I can't tell you much about the actual heat defense because I haven't used it for long enough. There is one thing I'd like to add: It seems to me that this spray works better when sprayed over dry hair before straightening with a flat iron. It's more shiny that way. *THUMBS DOWN*

Get rid of butt pimples/bumps

Embarrassing topic! You know those big red bumps on the bottom of your butt cheeks? They can be painful and remind you of an ugly pimple. I'm not sure exactly what they are but I found out how to get rid of them. Tea tree oil. The same oil that helps stop pimples from bleeding instantly. (Read about it here)
Apply pure, undiluted tea tree oil, either with your finger or a cotton pad directly on the bump. Put lots of oil. Leave it to dry and put your clothes back on. Do this morning and night and the bump should be gone in 2 - 3 days. It won't leave a trace!

L'anza Strait Line Review

L'anza's Thermal Defense spray from its Strait Line collection. 2 words: It sucks! I was really disappointed because L'anza isn't exactly cheap. It's supposed to be a humidity resistant spray that gives maximum shine. It uses some keratin bond system and has super holding power. Let me just say that it's like spraying maximum hold hair spray in your hair before blow drying. It gives NO shine. It is NOT humidity resistant. Well maybe 1 on a scale of 10. The hold is way too high. I don't care if it protects my hair, I'm throwing it out! *THUMBS DOWN*
Note: I have long, wavy, thick hair that is really frizzy. It might work differently on other hair types. Just remember I've warned you...

Drama Clean shampoo review

Quick Post!

If you're looking for a serious clarifying shampoo...Herbal Essences' Drama Clean is not the one! It smells great, it looks funky (green) but it's just a very average shampoo. It can't deal with a lot of build up or really dirty hair. There are much better shampoos out there. Note: I haven't tried the conditioner. *THUMBS DOWN*
